It was about this time four years ago to the day that I can remember this song being very relevant.
True Story: As I drove to and from the polling location where I cast my ballot for President of the United States, all I could hear was this song— blasted from all types of vehicles, all of them with all four windows down, no regard for the temperature (in a Midwestern city in November).
Quiet as kept, Jeezy’s 2008 album, The Recession, may have been his best, including the original Thug Motivation. It was just as hood as his debut, yet it possessed all the social commentary of a Public Enemy record (in a CTE sort of way).
Keep your ears open as you ride down the streets in your city today. You might just hear this record once again.
