HHSR has learned of the untimely passing of Chris Lighty, manager and CEO of Violator Entertainment. In addition to helping release two Violator albums in 1999 and 2001, Lighty has been behind the scenes of the marketing, branding, promotion and growth of many of the most popular artists in hip-hop over the last 15 years. His list of clients has included the likes of Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, Fat Joe, Diddy and LL Cool J.
Details surrounding the cause of death of the 44-year-old have yet to be confirmed. HHSR will pay homage to the life and career of Chris Lighty by taking a look back at the lead single of off 1999’s Violator: The Album, Q Tip’s “Vivrant Thing”.
Rest in Peace.
