We were diggin in the crates today and pulled out these two heaters from Fab off of 2009’s Loso’s Way. This was a highly underrated album, which is somewhat fitting seeing as how Loso has long been a highly underrated artist.
You get the impression fans may still be waiting on that start-to-finish classic record from the Brooklyn MC, but he has nonetheless been consistently good since his Ghetto Fabolous debut on September 11, 2001. Now 11 years deep in the rap game, Loso still has the respect of fans everywhere and has managed to successfully walk the fine line of a hood cat rapping about gunplay, and a radio-friendly rapper that makes songs about splurging on chicks. Whatever you think of him, you have to respect the man after hearing his truthful description of his career on the Loso’s Way intro, “Let’s talk about how I’m killing everything I touches/Or how I walked in this game with no crutches/No Diddy, no Dupri, no Dr. Dre/No Cash Money from Baby and no Roc’s from Jay/And I’m still here…” How many of today’s rappers that are still relevant after a decade can make this claim?
So enjoy two of the hottest songs of Loso’s fifth solo album (along with the solid “It’s My Time” at the start of this link). Let’s hope that Loso’s Way 2: Rise to Power will be the album that cements his legacy.
