DMX has been a busy man lately. He recently performed at the 2012 Rock the Bells Festival and is said to be taking part in a cypher at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards next month. Then again, DMX always seems to be a busy man. Whether it’s nearly losing his life in an ATV accident, wildin out on a reality TV show or impersonating a federal agent, X is always in the news for somethin!
Last week, DMX released his seventh solo album, Undisputed, which debuted at #19 on the Billboard charts and #2 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts. While X’s behavior has been known to be, shall we say…erratic in the past, the Yonkers native does have a soft spot for dogs, The Word and New York.
X has said he will donate proceeds from his first week’s album sales to the families of loved ones lost on 9/11. Undisputed, DMX’s first album in six years, dropped on the 11th anniversary of September 11th, one of the great tragedies in American history. DMX has not lost sight of the significance of that day, nor has he forgotten the impact that day had on the lives of millions of people. While those not directly affected by 9/11 continue on with their lives, the families of the victims will be haunted by that day for the rest of theirs. The fact that X is aware of this and decided to pony up the dollars as a sign of support and solidarity to those families is extremely commendable.
DMX…man’s best friend.
